Lilliana Falter was certainly a person that one could not handle in more than moderate spurts at the most. Even her youngest daughter wasn't sure she could spend all her time with the older woman now that she had experienced time away from her. No mistake, Kiena loved her mother like nobody else did. She was her mother after all, but she was no longer a child. Being reprimanded for how she held a spoon was not what Kiena had had in mind when she'd ventured out to visit her mother.
If not for her desperate need to have something going on, Kiena would have put off going to visit her mother for that very reason. But, with Xavier once again preoccupied with Xaranth and one of their attacks, Kiena had been alone. She'd kept herself busy recently, what with her trips to the outposts and into town now and then, but what she craved was honest, simple companionship. Somebody she could talk to, that wasnt going to talk to her feet, or throw a few hurried words at her before dashing off to attend to something else.
Even her mother hadnt really been able to give her that. It was always 'Not like that Kiena. You're doing it wrong. Like this. Just let me do it'. Her reprieve hadnt even been that and now she was returning to the castle and the solitude once more.
If she were somebody else, she might wish she was not who she was; that she could go back to being simple Kiena Falter, the girl a few people knew of but paid little mind to. But she wouldnt. For to give up who she was, would be to give up Xavier and, lonely or not, she would weather a hundred years of this for him. Selfish as it may be, she loved him.
With a sigh, Kiena pulled her horse to a halt as one of the stable boys came over to hold it still and she dismounted. "Thank you Migel," she said with a smile before she pulled off her riding gloves and lowered the hood of her cloak. Well, it was good to be home though, even if it was a rather empty home at this very moment. Glancing up at the windows, she hoped to catch a glimpse of Xavier, though she knew the chances were slim.
